Explore the Wonders of Mesa Verde National Park! šŸžļøšŸŗ

A h Greetings, adventurers! Ready to step back in time? Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado is a breathtaking destination where history and nature collide. Famous for its incredible cliff dwellings, this UNESCO World Heritage site offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the Ancestral Puebloans who lived here over 700 years ago. šŸœļøā›°ļø I visited this park and plan to write a post about it later. Here’s a picture of the park. The park’s iconic cliff dwellings, like Cliff Palace and...

Greetings, beach lovers! I’m continuing my recurring theme of telling you about the best beaches in the US. Nantucket's beaches are calling your name if you dream of soft sand, sparkling waves, and breathtaking sunsets. This charming island off the coast of Massachusetts is home to some of New England's most beautiful and serene beaches. šŸŒ…šŸš From Children's Beach's calm, family-friendly shores to Madaket Beach’s wild, windswept beauty, there’s a perfect spot for everyone. Whether you want to...

The longest road in the world is called the Pan-American Highway! The highway runs (unofficially) from Deadhorse, AK, to Ushuaia, Argentina. That’s from North America's northern-most drivable point to South America's southern-most drivable point! It’s about 19,000 miles and passes through 14 countries. I considered this when looking for a comparison for my 8,900-mile road trip, which I completed about ten days ago. The Pan-Am isn’t a specific road and isn’t officially recognized in the US and...

When traveling, don’t you think about seeing a place again? I thought about that a lot on my recent Presidents & Parks trip. Some are practical to revisit, some are nearly ā€œmust-seesā€ again, and others are ones I’ll see if I get the chance. Let’s go! Here’s my list: 1. National Parks a. Arches – Must see b. Big Bend – If I get a chance, it’s 200 miles from El Paso and 400 miles from San Antonio! c. Mesa Verde – If I get a chance d. White Sands – If I get a chance 2. US Presidents a. Harry S...

Over the final days, I visited the Truman and Eisenhower Presidential Museums. Interestingly, the C-Span presidential ranking system has Eisenhower at #5, followed by Truman at #6 of all US presidents. The Truman Museum has been recently upgraded and features interactive displays, making for an enjoyable few hours. Visitors may also visit his home, located approximately a mile away. The home was Bess Truman’s family home, and Harry moved in after their marriage in 1919. Eisenhower (Abilene,...

Today, I visited the World War I Museum in Kansas City. On my way to Abilene, I stopped at the Brown vs. Board of Education National Historic Site in Topeka. The WWI Museum ā€œstarted lifeā€ in 1926. Local Kansas Citians wanted to recognize their local war heroes along with all who served in ā€œThe War to End all Wars.ā€ I’m highly impressed with the museum. I didn’t have a lot of time today and hope to return soon. They provided the full story of how the Europeans were at war for three years...

There's an Unsung Heroes Hall of Fame in Fort Scott, Kansas! Irena Sendler is a charter member. Who is Irena Sendler? That’s likely why you haven’t heard that name. She’s a Polish social worker who saved hundreds of Jewish children in the Warsaw ghetto during the Nazi regime. She’s an unsung hero whose story is in the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes in this small town in eastern Kansas. Here’s a link to the Center. The Milken Foundation was founded by Lowell Milken and his brother in...

I'm in Tulsa, OK, on Day 36 of my road trip. Today, I visited the Bob Dylan Center and the Woody Guthrie Center, which are in the same building. Bob liked it and agreed to have his "Center" here also. Bob has a contentious relationship with his hometown of Hibbing, MN. But many people do that! For some reason, my computer decided I wasn't supposed to include pictures here today, so you will have to take my word for it! Before I left on this trip, I purchased a keyboard-mouse combination that...

Although US Highway 50 runs from Ocean City, MD, to Sacramento, CA, it’s officially known as the ā€œLoneliest Road in Americaā€ in Nevada. If you continue east into Utah, it’s much the same as the Nevada section. I recently drove 30 miles of the road in eastern Nevada and then drove much of the road in Utah. I picked up the road where US 93 meets US 50 in Nevada and followed it to the Border Inn Casino and Motel in Baker, NV. After leaving Las Vegas, I made a stop at Great Basin National Park....
