Road trip to Christmas-themed places

I’m working on a post about a US Road Trip to places that bear Christmas names or display Christmas lights and themes.

However, first, let me wish you and yours a Merry Christmas! Now, on with the mythical trip.

Since I live in Minnesota, I’ll start here. The first stop (and the last stop) is at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Most of its grounds feature a central Christmas light display. And from there, let’s head into Wisconsin. (I included a stop in Fargo, ND, and Duluth, MN, just because...)

How about Rudolph, WI, and then on to Joy, IL. Then, head to Christmas Tree, MI, and North Pole, NY. (There’s a “North Pole” in Alaska as well, but that’s an even longer drive!)

After the NY stop, let’s head to Nazareth and Bethlehem in PA. They are near Allentown and a couple of hours north of Philadelphia. After leaving Pennsylvania, let’s make the trip to Mount Holly, NC, and Christmas, FL.

For the next three stops, let’s visit Dasher, GA, Evergreen, AL, and Santa Claus, IN. Then, let’s head to Bells, TN, Noel, MO, and Garland, TX.

Of course, we must go to the unlikely named Snowflake, AZ. Unlikely to see any snow in Arizona!

Ok, on our way again to Altadena, CA. It’s known for a street with evergreen trees and is called Christmas Tree Lane! And then to Oregon, where we’ll find Christmas Valley. And then on to Santa, ID, and Red Lodge, MT. (Since at Christmastime, Red Lodge is likely to have snow on the ground, you can go skiing! And Red is the predominant Christmas color!)

There are other places with Christmas names, or a Christmas attitude, of course. If you are making a round trip, you can head back to Minnesota to complete the loop around the US!

If you can get access to Santa’s magical sleigh, you can do all of them in one evening! However, if you drive, it’s over 10,000 miles and will take you a couple of weeks!

I’m spending two nights in Huntsville, but by the time you read this, I’ll likely be in Nashville. On Day 13, I spent much of the day at the US Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville. I did check out the Huntsville Botanical Gardens at day’s end. Oh, by the way. Here’s the link to the preview post about this trip. US Space & Rocket Center The museum is extremely well done. I highly recommend it. For those of us (boomers) who remember this happening, it’s even more worthwhile. The hall that gives...

Two of my four stops weren’t open! ☹ And the visitor center was closed on the third one. More ☹ However, Horseshow Bend made up for some of it! And Little River Canyon’s scenic drive was likely what I was going to see, even if the visitor center had been open. Oh, by the way. Here’s the link to the preview post about this trip. Yes, I visited six places today AND drove on a National Park-supported trail! Here’s a quick rundown and a few pictures to go with it. Too many to include pictures for every stop. Oh, by the way. Here’s the link to the preview post about this trip. Upon leaving Hattiesburg, MS, this morning, I set up my GPS for the places I wanted to see. I knew most of them were relatively quick stops.
