States #41 & #42 - Salem to Maine

Two more states are in the books! I started the day in Salem, Massachusetts, then headed north. New Hampshire became state #41 and Maine became #42 on my third journey through all 50 states. Only eight remain! But the state count was only part of today's story. I walked through a desert in Maine, checked another scavenger-hunt challenge off the list, did a little shopping, and found another connection to FDR. Best of all, several conversations with people I met along the way added some unexpected twists. One of those conversations in Augusta uncovered a connection going back decades. Today, I visited three National Park units and a Presidential site. I visited the FDR Presidential Library, the FDR home, the Eleanor Roosevelt site, and the Vanderbilt Mansion.
