Subject: A Love Story Set in Stone? 🐔🪨

A a In the small town of Newbury, NH, a simple piece of roadside graffiti has become a legendary symbol of enduring love. 🌲💖

Along Route 103, a jagged stone outcropping bears a message that stops travelers in their tracks: "Chicken Farmer, I still love you."

The legend began in the 70s or 80s (the legend is unclear), when a shy teenage boy, smitten with a girl who lived on the chicken farm across the street, painted "Chicken Farmer, I love you" on a rock. 🐔💌 Too nervous to speak to her in person, he let the granite do the talking. For decades, the note weathered the elements until the early 2000s, when an unknown hand updated it to include the word "still." 🖌️✨

This quirky landmark became a local institution, cared for by neighbors who cleared away brush to keep the sentiment visible. However, in 2011, a complaint led the DOT to paint over it. 😱 The community quickly rallied! The message reappeared almost immediately, and a town petition ensured that this piece of folklore would remain in perpetuity. 📜✊

Today, it stands as a testament to long-lost love and small-town spirit. Next time you’re driving through Newbury, look for the rock that proves some feelings never fade. 🪨❤️

Stay romantic,

Featured Post: I know it’s not the same, but if you drive through Missouri on Route 66, you’ll find a rock painted to look like a bullfrog. No, it’s not Jeremiah!
