Waikīkī Beach – Hawaii’s Most Famous Shoreline 🏖️🌺

A a When people think of Hawaii, chances are they picture Waikīkī Beach—and for good reason! Located in Honolulu on the island of Oʻahu, Waikīkī is the most famous beach in the state and one of the most recognized in the world. 🌍✨

The series of “Best Beaches in Hawaii” I did a year or so ago didn’t include Waikiki. I always wondered why, as I thought, and have confirmed from several sources, it’s the most famous. So, here’s a bit about it!

Once a retreat for Hawaiian royalty, Waikīkī became a hub for visitors in the early 20th century, thanks in part to legendary surfer Duke Kahanamoku, who introduced the sport to travelers on its gentle, rolling waves. Today, it remains a top spot for beginner surfers and beach lovers alike. 🏄‍♂️🌊

Waikīkī’s appeal goes beyond the sand. With its backdrop of Diamond Head crater, vibrant nightlife, world-class shopping, and endless dining options, the area offers a perfect mix of natural beauty and modern convenience. 🌋🍹🛍️ Whether you’re catching a sunset, learning to surf, or strolling the lively Kalākaua Avenue, Waikīkī delivers the quintessential Hawaiian experience.

Of course, Hawaii is home to many other stunning beaches—like Lanikai on Oʻahu, Kaʻanapali on Maui, and Hanalei Bay on Kauaʻi—but Waikīkī remains the crown jewel. 🌴👑

So grab your sunscreen, your surfboard, and your sense of adventure—Waikīkī Beach is waiting to welcome you! ☀️🏖️

While South Dakota may be the best for some, “best” really depends on what you want to see or do. Or as they say, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” 👀✨ I’m planning to write posts about each state eventually, starting with a road trip through South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado. That’ll give me plenty of chances to dive deeper into South Dakota’s gems! 🚗🗺️ The Black Hills in western South Dakota offer incredible vacation attractions. Sure, Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse...

A couple of years ago, you may remember (if you stayed around that long!) a series ten about state fairs in the US in this newsletter. The top three were Minnesota, Texas, and Iowa. The list didn’t include Alaska, but recent reading found their state fair unique! So, here goes! If you’re planning a trip to Alaska, make sure to time it with the Alaska State Fair in Palmer—because this isn’t your average fair! 🎟️🐮 Located about an hour from Anchorage, the fair runs from late August through...
