đ Meet Steer Montana: Bakerâs Biggest Attraction

Road trips have a funny way of taking us to places we never expected. In Baker, Montana, one of those stops involves a steer who was anything but ordinary. đ Meet Steer Montana, the worldâs largest steer on display at O'Fallon Historical Museum. He weighed an astonishing 3,980 pounds, stood nearly six feet tall, and measured more than 10 feet long. Thatâs one seriously large, beefy road-trip companion! đ Steer Montana was born near Baker in 1923. His owner, Jack Guth, became something of a showman and toured the giant steer across the country. Steer Montana appeared at more than 60 fairs, stock shows, and carnivals during his lifetime. Today, he stands proudly inside the OâFallon Historical Museum. The museum itself deserves some time, too. Six buildings showcase Fallon County history, including a 1916 jail, homestead buildings, farm equipment, vehicles, and local artifacts. Admission is free. Baker also makes a fun base for exploring southeastern Montana. The area offers wide-open prairie views and plenty of small-town Western character. If you have extra time, consider adding Medicine Rocks State Park to your itinerary. Its unusual sandstone formations contrast nicely with Bakerâs prairie landscape. So, if your road trip takes you through Baker, donât just drive through town. Stop and meet the biggest steer in townâor perhaps anywhere else! đđ¸ Sometimes the strangest roadside attractions become the stories you remember longest.
