As a “numbers guy,” I typically give you facts about a trip. Here are a few numbers for you to consider and comment on if you wish. Days on the road: 42 I visited two national parks I’d visited on previous occasions. Gateway Arch and Arches. I drove on the Loneliest Road in America. US Highway 50. It runs from Maryland to California, but Nevada designates their section for this honor. There are sections with nearly 100 miles with no services. Very scenic, however. And there is another 80-mile stretch from the Nevada border to the first services in Utah. After driving for a while on several different roads, US Highway 50 and Interstate 70 ran concurrently in Utah. There were another 112 miles without any services. At this point, the interstate included occasional stopping points to view the scenery. If you drive here, make sure you’ve filled your tank and are ready for the drive. Enjoy the scenic trip! "Always take the scenic route!” Classic Rock song: "That Lonesome Road” by James Taylor Please email me with questions! States visited: Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota. And, of course, start and end in Minnesota. Stan Featured Post: I updated my overview post about the trip. Check it out here. Again, this post will serve as the cornerstone for additional posts about my “Presidents & Parks” trip. |

A h Greetings, adventurers! Ready to step back in time? Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado is a breathtaking destination where history and nature collide. Famous for its incredible cliff dwellings, this UNESCO World Heritage site offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the Ancestral Puebloans who lived here over 700 years ago. 🏜️⛰️ I visited this park and plan to write a post about it later. Here’s a picture of the park. The park’s iconic cliff dwellings, like Cliff Palace and...

Whether you want to...
The longest road in the world is called the Pan-American Highway! The highway runs (unofficially) from Deadhorse, AK, to Ushuaia, Argentina. That’s from North America's northern-most drivable point to South America's southern-most drivable point! It’s about 19,000 miles and passes through 14 countries. I considered this when looking for a comparison for my 8,900-mile road trip, which I completed about ten days ago. The Pan-Am isn’t a specific road and isn’t officially recognized in the US and...
