In typical Driveby Tourist fashion, a trip that starts with one main purpose has quickly become something much bigger. On September 10, I’ll hit the road for Philadelphia and the All Fifty Conference. The conference is the official reason for the trip. Of course, that doesn’t mean I can simply drive there and back! 😄 Along the way, I’ll visit 13 additional states. Those states will count toward an even bigger personal goal: visiting all 50 states for the third time. Yes, you read that correctly. Apparently, visiting all 50 once wasn’t enough. Twice apparently wasn’t enough either. So here we go again! If I meet my goal, I’ll be at 43 states on my “third trip around the sun!” This trip will combine everything I enjoy about traveling. There will be history, presidential sites, National Park Service units, roadside attractions, scenic drives, and plenty of unexpected stops. 🗺️📸 Some stops will be carefully planned. Others will probably happen because I see something interesting and think, “I need to check that out!” By the way, I’ll send nearly daily quick updates with a few pictures of my adventures that day. I’ll send them to my Premium list with a twice-weekly summary to this group. (Good opportunity to read more often by subscribing, as noted below!) The All Fifty Conference will bring together people who share the same passion for exploring all 50 states. I’m looking forward to meeting fellow travelers and swapping stories about the places we’ve discovered. But the conference is only part of the adventure. The real fun begins when I leave the driveway. 🚗💨 So, starting September 10, follow along as another All Fifty adventure unfolds. Sometimes the best travel discoveries happen when you get off the main tourist trail. Putnam, Connecticut, is one of those places.
